I doubt you're really all that interested in me but here goes. I was born in Chicago but I've lived most of my life in Warsaw. I attended the old Madison Elementary School, went to Edgewood Middle School when it was the ONLY middle school in town, and graduated with honors from WCHS when it was at Lakeview. Among several activities I participated in, cross-country and track were favorites. My bachelor's degree was earned at Ball State University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Honors College with a major in Social Studies Education and a minor in English. My master's degree was earned at IPFW. My first teaching job was on the Pacific island of Guam. That was a unique experience and I tell lots of stories in class that the students can share. I joined Edgewood in 1998 and started coaching the cross-country and track teams in 2002. My husband Dana and I were married in 2006 and our daughter Hannah was born in 2008. We live in the Milford area and attend Nappanee Missionary Church. My husband is a painter. Favorite things I like to do are running, calligraphy, jigsaw puzzles (the more pieces the better), watch movies (Phantom of the Opera, Chariots of Fire, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Chronicles of Narnia are faves), and read fiction (some favorite authors are Jane Austen, Mark Twain, CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien). Possibly my most favorite thing, besides playing with my daughter and, of course, teaching, is traveling. I've been to 47 of the 50 states. Guess which ones I haven't been to (yes, I've been to Alaska and Hawaii to give a couple of hints). I've been to several countries and I like to share things from my travels in my classroom. Examples would be Guam, Israel, Egypt, and Jordan (among a few others).

I love FACS!I have been blessed to meet many people during my long career with Warsaw Community Schools. It is my hope that my life's work has been enriching the lives of many people. I enjoy my pets (currently 2 cats and a dog). I love to travel and if I can find the time, my favorite hobbies are sewing knitting, and decorating cakes. I hold a BA degree from Manchester University and an MS degree from Purdue University. (I found it interesting to take courses at other universities and transferred credits from Kent State, Univ. of Minnesota, Ball State, and IPFW.) My latest adventure has been winning a 2013 Teacher Creativity Fellowship from the Lilly Endowment. For my project, I chose to travel to Scotland and attend kilt school in the town of Keith. 8 meters of tartan worsted wool fabric and many hand stitches later resulted in a kilt and an education in Scottish culture.
