Connect
Students in Miss Rohrer's Stitch 'n Save class practiced basic sewing skills.  Conner took things a step further by asking Miss Rohrer if he could sew the seam of his pocket back together!  Applying knowledge in a real life setting - way to go, Conner!

The February Maker Event at the Edgewood Library Learning Commons focused on electronics.  Students were able to explore with Little Bits, Makey Makey, Snap Circuits, and Chibitronics.  Several students created a card that lit up using Chibitronics.  Others produced music using vegetables as a keyboard with Makey Makey.
Mrs. Eberhardt, Teacher Librarian, would like to thank Region 8 and the Schwab Foundation for providing training and supplies for students to create with Chibitronics.

Our Makerspace is in need of materials.  If you are interested in donating, we would love to have your Legos, K*NEX, or other building toys.  We had one generous contribution of a Snap Circuits set.  Crafting students would be happy to use paper punches, scrapbook paper, stamps and ink.  Both teachers and students would make use of a Cricut die cut machine!  Stay tuned for more Makerspace news!

Students are learning how to code their own games in Scratch in Intro. to Computer Science. Here they are figuring out how to make a game that works with motion-detection, similar to the Kinect for Xbox. They are trying to pop the balloons as they float over their heads using their arms and the built-in webcams on the computers.
