Students in 8th grade history class have been studying early historical events, including battle techniques. They learned how volleying battles took place by launching objects with trebuchets they buillt in class. It was a bit difficult to restrain themselves from launching until they heard their commander (the teacher) countdown to fire! As one class "battled" against the other, the most fun was hearing 60 middle schoolers all laughing at the same time!
Students in 7th grade science have been practicing measuring in metric. They are using meter sticks to measure the distance from one exit to another exit. Wonder if they are getting the same answers? You can have your student practice measuring all kinds of things using the metric system at home!
Mr. Peloza, Mr. Brannock, and Mr. Travis, Warsaw schools band directors, are pleased with the progress of our band students this year! Enjoy the pictures, and in the near future, we hope you come enjoy our concerts!
Edgewood is trying a new homework policy this year. Students should have homework in no more than two classes per night, and assignments should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Here is our schedule:
Mondays: 8th grade math, 8th grade history, 7th grade math, and 7th grade English language arts. Tuesdays: 8th grade English language arts, 8th grade science, 7th grade science, and 7th grade social studies Wednesdays/Thursdays: 8th grade math, 8th grade science, 8th grade English language arts, 7th grade science, 7th grade math, 7th grade English language arts, and all electives Fridays: 8th grade science, 7th grade English language arts
Remember that on Wednesdays and Thursdays we have block schedules. Wednesdays students have 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th periods. Thursdays students have 2nd, 4th, and 6th periods. It looks like there could be lots of homework, but students should only have half of the classes listed above on Wednesday, the other half on Thursday.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child's teachers. Their emails are listed under the Academics tab here on our website.
Thank you to the parents who attended Edgewood's Parent Open House on August 22. It was nice to see so many of you here and interested in your student's education! Several parents asked how to check on student grades. The process is very easy. Just click on the PowerSchool link on our Edgewood home page and log in! Here is that link in case you missed seeing it on the home page: https://warsawschools.powerschool.com/public/
Once you click on the link, you just have to log in the way you did to register your student. If you forget your password, select Forgot Password and follow instructions. If you need to create a log in, click Create Log In and follow those instructions. You will have to have a valid email to complete the process. Those are easy to create at gmail.com. You will also need your student's information numbers, which are available from the school office. Edgewood's phone number is 574-371-5096.
