EMS Grading Procedures and Homework Plan
Edgewood Middle School would like to provide parents with the following information regarding grading procedures and homework for the 2019-2020 School year.

2019-2020 Goal:

Edgewood leadership team, including all people interested in serving in this capacity, build school-wide procedures to solidify purpose and work collaboratively and cooperatively as a full staff to maximize student learning. This team will create and communicate “how we do business at Edgewood.”

Grading:

  • 80% test, projects, quizzes
  • 20% practice
  • Any practice can be redone for full credit
  • Each teacher can set his/her own qualifications for when a student can retest.

  • No extra credit
  • Work up to 2 weeks late will be accepted. After 2 weeks, it will be a zero
  • Up to 10% can be deducted for late work
  • We honor all IEPs, LEPs, HOPE and 504 plans
  • Homework, quizzes and tests will be graded and recorded within one week
  • Major projects will have extended time for grading

High School Classes:

Homework:

  • Edgewood will follow a specific homework schedule for all subjects/classes
  • Homework should only take 20 - 30 minutes per class
  • If students do not complete class work, it can not be sent home as homework, unless it is a homework day for that class
