Edgewood Middle School would like to provide parents with the following information regarding grading procedures and homework for the 2019-2020 School year.
Edgewood leadership team, including all people interested in serving in this capacity, build school-wide procedures to solidify purpose and work collaboratively and cooperatively as a full staff to maximize student learning. This team will create and communicate “how we do business at Edgewood.”
80% test, projects, quizzes
Any practice can be redone for full credit
Each teacher can set his/her own qualiﬁcations for when a student can retest.
Suggested: One redo for a large summative assessment.
No extra credit
Work up to 2 weeks late will be accepted. After 2 weeks, it will be a zero
Up to 10% can be deducted for late work
We honor all IEPs, LEPs, HOPE and 504 plans
Homework, quizzes and tests will be graded and recorded within one week
Major projects will have extended time for grading
High School Classes:
Please note, High school credited classes have the autonomy to establish their own grading and homework system.
Edgewood will follow a speciﬁc homework schedule for all subjects/classes
Homework should only take 20 - 30 minutes per class
If students do not complete class work, it can not be sent home as homework, unless it is a homework day for that class
Homework should cover speciﬁc standards
Homework should connect to content
Honors/HS credit classes have autonomy to assign HW as needed
Monday: 7 and 8 Math, 8th History, 7th Language Arts Tuesday: 8th Language Arts, 7th and 8th Science, 7th SS, FACS Wednesday/Thursday: 7 and 8 Math, 7 and 8 Science, 7 and 8 Language Arts, Electives Friday: 8th Science, 7th Language Arts, 7th Social Studies
