On Wednesday, Jan. 24, Warsaw Community High School and the Warsaw Area Career Center are holding the annual WCHS/WACC Academic Showcase from 5-8 p.m. This event is primarily meant for current WCHS students and their parents, as well as all incoming freshmen for next year in the class of 2022. This is a great chance to come tour the building and see all the wonderful opportunities that are available to students at WCHS and in the WACC. Every department throughout the school will be showcasing their talented teachers and previewing their available classes and curriculums. There will be fun and interactive activities, as well as informational flyers that will help students and families decide what courses they should take at WCHS.

To the parents of incoming freshmen (current eighth graders), there will be two opportunities to attend the informative meeting in the Performing Arts Center. The first Class of 2022 meeting is scheduled for 5-5:45 p.m., and the second will be held at 6-6:45 p.m. The meetings are the same information, and parents of incoming freshmen (Class of 2022) are encouraged to attend one of the meetings.

In 7th grade social studies our students are learning about GDP (gross domestic product), per capita GDP (per person GDP), and standard of living. They learned the definitions then went to the World Bank website and looked up ten countries to compare the numbers and draw conclusions as to the possible overall strength of the economies, ranking them in the order they think they should be in. We discussed the varying factors in determining standard of living and how numbers can compare and tell you a story about each country.
