ID CARDS Each student must wear a clearly visible student photo identification card on a break-away lanyard each day at Edgewood Middle School. Replacements will cost $4.00 for an ID and $1.00 for a lanyard. Unpaid ID’s will result in school consequences.
EMS DRESS CODE PROCEDURES Edgewood will permit holes in the jeans that are fingertip length and below. All tank tops and shirts must have shoulder coverage that is ID width. Under garments should not be visible. No midriff shirts showing any skin. Students wearing leggings must wear a long enough shirt that covers their front and back side. Skirts and shorts are to be fingertip length.
Students who violate the foregoing rules will not be admitted to class and should be sent to the front office. This will be addressed by teachers and the administrative staff. These rules are in place so that we are demonstrating modesty as well as keeping the focus on the academic success for all students. Anything that is distracting to the educational environment is not appropriate attire for Edgewood Middle School. Please consider how it looks through the eyes of a middle school student and would it be distracting to their learning.
ELEARNING: All eLearning days are 7 period day schedules. If we miss a Wednesday - eLearning would be 7 periods and odd block would move to Friday. If we miss a Thursday, elearning would be 7 periods and even block would be Friday. If we miss both Wednesday Thursday - we will all be rested for Friday and Friday would be 7 periods.
Attendance is a critical factor that significantly affects student learning. Students who are not in school miss out on important instruction. If possible, we would like students to be in school every day. However, we do know that illnesses, emergencies and unexpected events can result in a student being absent. Parents have seven parent call in days each semester. Our attendance office will call you between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. each day your child is absent, if you have not called the school. We’ve had a few family vacations requested, and these days of absence count towards the seven parent days. If a student is going to miss 3 or more days for vacation, please send a note to the office and we will generate a teacher notification/assignment sheet that must be taken around and signed by each teacher prior to the vacation.
Academic eligibility for athletes: If your son/daughter is participating in sports, be sure you know the athletic policy (posted on the Edgewood website) regarding eligibility and grades. We will be checking grades every week and this can impact an athlete's eligibility to participate, practice and play.
Attention to those attending WCHS home football games: The High School Athletic Department welcomes all students and parents to the football games. There is a student section for middle school students and we would ask that parents of elementary students supervise them during the game. Students are asked to stay in the stands during the game and not congregate in the area behind the bleachers. We ask that students have rides home promptly after the game so that the area can be cleaned and secured. We encourage parents to accompany students to the game but if you are not staying, for student safety and security, we ask that parents plan to be in the parking lot to pick up their child before the end of the 4th quarter.
OUR MISSION: Edgewood will maximize student learning.
