APPOINTMENTS Please send a note to school with your student if you are picking your student up early. The student is to bring the note to the office before school begins for a pass to come to the office before your arrival time. After the appointment, please bring in the slip from a medical appointment for your student’s files.

EMS DRESS CODE PROCEDURES Edgewood will permit holes in the jeans that are fingertip length and below. All tank tops and shirts must have shoulder coverage that is ID width.  Under garments should not be visible. No midriff shirts showing any skin.  Students wearing leggings must wear a long enough shirt that covers their front and back side. Skirts and shorts are to be fingertip length.

Students who violate the foregoing rules will not be admitted to class and should be sent to the front office. This will be addressed by teachers and the administrative staff.  These rules are in place so that we are demonstrating modesty as well as keeping the focus on the academic success for all students. Anything that is distracting to the educational environment is not appropriate attire for Edgewood Middle School.  Please consider how it looks through the eyes of a middle school student and would it be distracting to their learning.

PHONES

Students are reminded to turn off phones and put them away when entering the building. This includes when you arrive before school and are waiting in the commons. If a student needs to contact their parent, he or she is to receive permission from an administrator, nurse or their teacher to call on a school phone.

REPORTING AN ABSENCE  Phone 371-5096

When a student is absent from school, the parent/guardian must contact the school by 9:00 a.m. on the day of each absence. If the parent does not contact the school within 24 hours of the absence, the absence is considered unexcused or truant. Unexcused absences or truancies can result in the student being assigned to a Friday School. Students are also reminded that they are allowed only seven days of absence during each semester. Students who exceed the limit of absences run the risk of not earning credit for the classes they miss. A parent letter for upcoming vacations is requested about a week in advance if possible.

APPOINTMENTS:  Just a reminder that the office needs to be notified about any appointments that will take students out of the building during the school day.  We also need a note from the doctor, dentist, orthodontist, etc. when a student returns to school. If possible, we ask that the students come to school before and/or after an appointment to minimize the amount of instruction he/she misses.

OUR MISSION: Edgewood will maximize student learning.

Come root on the Lady Tigers in today’s Volleyball home meet against Fairfield. The 8th grade plays first with a start time of 5:30p.

Due to Parent/Teacher Conferences there will be no cross country practice today.

Game Club is canceled for today.

Tonight’s Parent Teacher Conferences will be held this evening from 3:30-7:00pm in the commons at Edgewood.

Calling all students interested in helping others, fundraising for good causes and planning Edgewood’s annual Spring Dance.  Edgewood Cares will hold their first meeting after school today from 2:45-3:15 in Mrs. Helser's room.

PARENT  INFORMATION

Progress reports were sent sent home with students yesterday, September 16th.

Parent Teacher Conferences:  We are so excited to be implementing quarterly parent/teacher conferences.  The first conference date is Thursday, September 19 from 3:30 - 7 p.m. in the commons at Edgewood.  You will get your student’s midterm grades and can meet with any and all teachers to check on how your student is doing.  The best part of the timing for these conferences is that you can work with your student to make “mid flight” corrections.  This is especially important for the nine week classes. These conferences should improve communication and help students adjust study habits, preparations for tests and completion of missing assignments before it’s too late. It also is a great way to find out how your son or daughter is behaving and to hopefully get lots of positive comments to reinforce your child’s behaviors and academic efforts.
