Welcome! Edgewood Tigers, we are off to a great start this morning! Here is some essential information to assist your school days:
A reminder to all students, once you enter the building we ask that you turn your phones off and put them away until the end of the day when the dismissal bell rings. You are not to have your cell phone out during the school day.
Backpacks are not allowed in the classrooms or in the hallways and should be stored in your locker. If you are unable to unlock your locker, contact a custodian or office! During passing periods, teachers supervising the hallways may also be able to help.
We have a conservative dress code and expect students to dress appropriately for school. Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length and no undergarments should be showing. Students wearing leggings must wear a top that is fingertip length that covers their front and back side.
Our Office staff is here to help you and will do their best to answer your questions. Students are to come to the office to purchase IDs, receive messages, ask scheduling questions, locker issues and for many other issues, We do ask that you don’t bring friends with you to the office. ID CARDS are to be distributed in first period today. If you do not receive one, contact the office. Each student must wear the photo identification card on a lanyard each day. The first ID is free. Replacements will cost $4 for an ID; $1 for a lanyard.
IPad Distribution will be held during the morning on Thursday August 15th.
8th grade Volleyball Team Tryouts will be held from 3-5p on Wednesday August 14th ONLY. The 7th Grade Volleyball Tryouts are still on Wednesday and Thursday August 15th. Girls MUST have a physical on file in the office to tryout. Please see Mr. Wysong if you have any questions.
We will follow a special schedule today to allow time for a morning assembly. Students will be called with their teacher to the gym at 8:00am.
IPad distribution to students will be held on August 15th in the commons. It is important that if you wish to have insurance on your IPAD, you sign up online. The insurance link and option to purchase closes on August 30th. Only new students after the 16th will be allowed to purchase insurance. Go to the WCS website for the link. https://gpo.worthavegroup.com/gpo/warsawk12
8th-grade students will receive loaner iPad Airs with cases this year. Do not remove removed the protective shield. Remember these cases are to be returned at the end of the year with all pieces. Insurance does not cover the case. Last year a large number of students removed the protective shield causing multiple damages which then students were billed to replace the cases.
Students can bring money to the cafeteria to deposit money to their food account or parents can pay online. First thing in the morning before school begins is the best time to bring money to the cafeteria. Money that is brought before 9:30 can be used for the day’s lunch food.
Student Activity Fees ($20) can be paid in the front office.

The student is to bring the note to the office before school begins for a pass to come to the office before your arrival time. After the appointment, please bring in the slip from a medical appointment for your student’s files.
EMS Dress Code Procedures Edgewood Administration worked with a panel of students and met with a few parents to review the expectations for dress code. The conversation was positive, respectful and informative. At this time, we have agreed to modify the dress code to provide an agreeable solution, to meet the needs of the school and the students.
A critical point made by students was the request for the dress code to be enforced consistently. This will take all parents and staff working together to provide a fair and equitable enforcement of these expectations. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
These rules are in place so that we are demonstrating modesty as well as keeping the focus on the academic success for all students. Anything that is distracting to the educational environment is not appropriate attire for Edgewood Middle School. Please consider how it looks through the eyes of a middle school student and would it be distracting to their learning.
At this time, Edgewood will permit holes in the jeans that are fingertip length and below. All tank tops and shirts must have shoulder coverage that is ID width. Under garments should not be visible. No midriff shirts showing any skin. Students wearing leggings must wear a long enough shirt that covers their front and back side. Skirts and shorts are to be fingertip length.
Students who violate the foregoing rules will not be admitted to class and should be sent to the front office. This will be addressed by teachers and the administrative staff.
Students are reminded to turn off phones and put them away when entering the building. This includes when you arrive before school and are waiting in the commons. If a student needs to contact their parent, he or she is to receive permission from an administrator, nurse or their teacher to call on a school phone.
REPORTING AN ABSENCE Phone 371-5096
When a student is absent from school, the parent/guardian must contact the school by 9:00 a.m. on the day of each absence. If the parent does not contact the school within 24 hours of the absence, the absence is considered unexcused or truant. Unexcused absences or truancies can result in the student being assigned to a Friday School. Students are also reminded that they are allowed only seven days of absence during each semester. Students who exceed the limit of absences run the risk of not earning credit for the classes they miss. A parent letter for upcoming vacations is requested about a week in advance if possible.
We encourage you to consider joining a club or fall sport such as football or cross country. This is a good way to meet friends, have fun and be involved at Edgewood.
Our mission is to inspire and equip all students to continuously acquire and apply knowledge and skills while pursuing their dreams and enriching the lives of others.Last modified on
